La Hermandad de la Virgen del Mar celebra a su patrona como cada año y, como ya es costumbre, su ya tradicional concurso de olla ferroviaria.
En un día de intenso calor en la provincia, la suave brisa hace más llevadera la jornada a las peñas reunidas bajo el manto de la virgen en la pradera de la ermita.
Un total de 70 ollas de patatas con carne de vacuno se cocinaron a fuego lento para estar en su mejor punto a la una y media para ser probadas por el jurado.
La organización aportó pan y botella de vino a cada olla participante. Muchas gracias por vuestro esfuerzo y colaboración.
Después de la comida y de la sobremesa, a las cinco y media de la tarde se dieron a conocer las ollas premiadas.
Damos nuestra más sincera enhorabuena a la Peña La Traviesa, que se alzó con el primer premio; a Nieves, de la Peña Olleros de Elechino, que obtuvo el segundo premio y a la Peña La Huerta, que consiguió el tercer premio.
Tras la entrega de premios continuó la fiesta y diversión para todas las peñas.
La Ermita de la Virgen del Mar que hoy conocemos ha sufrido numerosos cambios desde su origen. Su ubicación, expuesta a todo tipo de inclemencias y temporales, ha exigido mucho cuidado. La devoción a la Virgen ha conseguido que este entorno se haya cuidado y mejorado para disfrute de todos, congregando cada año a centenares de fieles y devotos en una cita de amor y convivencia.
La ermita consta de una sola nave que alberga un magnífico retablo mayor. En su parte central la imagen de la Virgen es la figura más destacada
El entorno natural de la Ermita ofrece una magnífica panorámica del Cantábrico y de la playa, donde los acantilados y las praderas son también protagonistas para pasar un excelente día en familia.
